February 2018 Fishing Recap

February 2018 Fishing Recap

Louisiana Redfish at Sunset

February Fishing Recap:

February was a solid month of fishing for us at Griffin Fishing Charters & Lodge. Overall, fishing took a little more work this month with unpredictable weather and wind, but we were lucky to still have consistent limits of redfish with a mix of sheepshead, catfish, and large mouth bass added in. Fish piled up on structure and were mostly biting on shrimp.

Towards the end of the month the weather warmed up into the low 80’s and we caught a glimpse of what’s to come for March. Fishing should get better as long as the warming trend continues. Reds will be caught on some artificial spinners and spoons, but dead shrimp will still be a sure-fire bait to get the job done until later in the Spring & Summer.
