Fishing Charter FAQs

FISHING FAQs:

Our experienced fishing guides know best! They provide all the bait, tackle, rods, reels, and expert advice you need for a day on the water!

There is no need to bring your own fishing gear, but we do recommend you bring your own camera for pictures, sun protection, bug spray, cooler to take home your fish, adult beverages, and don’t forget your fishing license!

Yes! All participants over age 16 will need a Louisiana fishing license. Licenses are easy to purchase and keep on your smartphone. Here is more information on the fishing license process.

Not at all! Our guides are available to help you and teach you as much as you’d like! From first time anglers to expert fishermen and women, we’re happy to help everyone experience the thrill of fishing in Louisiana.

Tipping your fishing guide is customary. Approximately 20% or $100+ per day is typical.

We hope no one has to cancel their fishing trip, but we do understand things occasionally come up. Should you have to cancel your trip, your deposit can be applied to a rescheduled fishing trip within 12 months of the original date. Deposits are not refundable and payment in full is due 1-week prior to the start of your fishing trip. Advance notice is appreciated, as our guides’ calendars book up quickly, and we hate turning folks away! Weather related cancellations will be decided by the captains.

Weather in Louisiana can be wild! Your captains will always make the best decision regarding weather. We recommend you do not take the forecast too seriously – things are always subject to change! Sometimes just a few hours can shift the weather in our area because of all of the surrounding water. If the weather during your scheduled trip does turn out to be too windy or stormy to leave the dock, we will make the call and reschedule your trip as quickly as we can.

Of course! We love our young anglers. All kids will be required to wear a life vest in accordance with Louisiana law. Kids under 16 do not require a fishing license.

Our boats fit up to 4 anglers, plus the captain. We have 7 full time guides, plus many additional part time guides that join us for large groups!

Our fishing charters are inshore in the marshes and bayous surrounding the Fishing Lodge. Redfish enjoy shallow water close to the banks, so you’ll always be able to see land. We rarely have anyone feel seasick, but we recommend bringing motion sickness medication if it is something you’re concerned about.
