August Fishing Report

August Fishing Report:

August’s bite was steady at Griffin Fishing Charters & Lodge. The shrimp bite has slowed up until fall, meaning lots of artificial fishing! Our guides mostly used gold spoons in the shallow marsh waters. It’s been an exciting time for sight fishing! We’ve had a better-than-usual summer with clear water, making it easy to spot the goldenback redfish.

We were blessed with consistent limits of redfish for most of our charters, plus a mixed bag of black drum, sheepshead, and the occasional speckled trout. Captain Colby even reeled in a one-off spanish mackerel early in the month – the first we’ve seen caught inshore by a boat from the lodge!

Fall is shaping up to be hot and heavy with our guides on the water almost everyday between now and Thanksgiving! Looking forward to a great busy season!
